I wrote the letter below to Bishop Hee-soo Jung of the West Ohio Conference of the United Methodist Church, asking him to ask Governor DeWine to veto Ohio HB8. I ask you to do the same.

Gov DeWine,
I am writing to ask that you veto House Bill 8. This bill will:
· Force teachers, school counselors, therapists, social workers, and psychologists to automatically out LGBTQ+ students to their parents., regardless of the safety repercussions the student could face at home.
· Create a culture of censorship by prohibiting examples of LGBTQ+ identities and contributions to arts, sciences, and other disciplines as they are labeled as “sexuality content”
· Mandate school districts allow release time from public education for religious instruction resulting in blurring the line between church and state and disrupting the school day.
House Bill 8 will put LGBTQ+ students at risk of harm by administrators, parents, and peers. The censorship facilitated by this bill will impact all students while taking away from public education for religious instruction.
Thank you for your attention to this issue that will impact all Ohio students and many of our local churches.
